Hello, my name is Wise Atangana, and I am an artist, poet, and community advocate. My journey began in Cameroon, where at the age of five, I walked 15 kilometers every day—barefoot—to attend school. Those walks shaped my resilience, dreams, and belief in the power of determination. Years later, I arrived in Canada, carrying nothing but hope, a passion for music, and a desire to make a difference.

Today, I’m proud to call Ottawa my home—a city rich in culture, diversity, and creativity. But there’s a challenge: our music scene, though vibrant, often goes unheard on the national and global stage. As someone who has experienced systemic barriers firsthand, I want to change that—not just for myself, but for all the talented voices in our community.

The Project

1. A music video for my song “Welcome to Ottawa”, showcasing our city’s unique beauty, culture, and people.
2. A viral TikTok challenge to connect Ottawa’s story with the world, reaching millions globally.
3. A movement to challenge discrimination in the music industry and give Ottawa’s music scene the respect it deserves.
